1. Bubur Mengguh
Bubur means porride. It is a typical porridge from Buleleng (North Bali) usually served in traditional ceremony. Bubur mengguh is made of rice.
It is mixed with coconut milk and served with vegetables, seasoned shredded chicken and thick chicken broth. Its taste is very complete, like a combination between sweet, spicy, and savory.
2. Ayam Betutu (Chicken Betutu)
Ayam betutu is Balinese culinary icon. It is really recommended for spicy food enthusiasts. So, if you love spicy food, get ready to fall in love with ayam betutu that is full of spicy spices.
This food is really unique since the tummy of the chicken is filled with spices then it is wrapped with banana tree leaf and grilled in coals for 24 hours to get tender texture, authentic spicy taste and savory taste.
It’s usually served with rice, fried peanut, urap (mixture of boiled vegetable with grated coconut) sate lilit (satay lilit), and sambal matah.
3. Satay Lilit
Satay lilit or “sate lilit” is made from ground fish that is wrapped with flour, grated coconut, and typical Balinese spices. The original form of sate lilit is made by twisting the ground fish on lemongrass stalk.

4. Tum Ayam (Wrapped Chicken)
Tum ayam means wrapped chicken. This yummy food is made from steamed chopped chicken and wrapped with banana tree leaf.

There’s another variant of tum ayam, that using pieces of tofu as an additional ingredient. Sometimes, you can also find tum yam when visiting Lombok.
